Paphos,
Name zweier antiker Städte auf Zypern: das alte Paphos (Palaipaphos)
mit einem Tempel der Aphrodite (UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe); 15 km nordwestlich
davon das neue Paphos (Neapaphos), in römischer Zeit Hauptstadt der
Insel.

Vom Bild her vergleichbar ist folgende Silbermünze aus der Zeit um 400 v.
Chr., die zypriotischen Buchstaben (Ba = basileus - König und O = Onasioikos)
fehlen auf dem Markenbild:

breaks, solar symbol and Cypriot letters Ba si O na si; to left, ankh; below,
Cypriot letters, Ba si le. Rev. Eagle flying to left between Cypriot
letters Ba and O; to left, ankh; all within incuse square. Babelon 756
var. = BMC pl.XXI, 14 (possibly the same obverse die). Dewing 2527 var. Very
rare. Beautifully toned. Obverse struck from the usual worn and partially
damaged die, otherwise, very fine/extremely fine.
